A native of India, Dr. Bhat focuses on research related to the adult brain, particularly its development, function and diseases related to the brain. This research focus includes work on axon guidance and synaptic connections and on self-renewal and asymmetric division of neural precursor stem cells in the embryonic nerve cord. More recently, Dr. Bhat's work has focused on gene mutation and its relationship to the development and function of the brain. This work has resulted in the publication of numerous articles in several leading academic journals. In addition to a long list of publications, Dr. Bhat is the recipient of many research grants and awards and is in high demand around the world as a lecturer and expert on the brain.
Kumar Sambamurti, PhD.
Dr. Sambamurti is a leading researcher in the fields of aging and Alzheimer's disease. A native of India, Dr. Sambamurti's research has resulted in the publication of more than 100 academic articles. He is based at the Medical University of South Carolina in the Department of Neurosciences within the College of Medicine. His research focuses on the mechanisms of neurodegeneration that ultimately result in the slow decline associated with aging as well as diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and macular degeneration. Currently, much of Dr. Sambamurti's work is focused on unlocking the mystery of neuronal cells, the degeneration of which contributes to aging and diseases associated with it.
